PROPOSAL AT A GLANCE

Proposal name:
Modeling and simulation system (SysM)
Subject:
Modeling and simulation system including scenario built for handling in security incidents, to support the training of crisis managers (SysM)

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Proposal Outline:
The SysM is an idea for a project dealing with the information and communication networks and transportation system more secure and dependable. Such critical infrastructures can be damaged, destroyed or disrupted by deliberate acts of terrorism, criminal activities or natural disasters, such as fires burned on purpose. The main accent in the project idea is focused on simulating on situations occurred in conditions of terrorist attacks or fires burned on purpose. These situations can seriously affect the transport systems of the country and concerns the cross-border interconnected European information networks.

PARTNER PROFILE SOUGHT

Required skills and Expertise:
The experts needed are in the fields of:
1. Experts in 3D and multimedia (Modeling of the dynamical processes during the burning period of a fire on the base of mathematical models, animation, mapping, development of 3D interactive software)
2. Experts in the field of ecology, who would give their opinions, when:
a. a specific type of vegetable burns,
b. the humidity of the air is not constant,
c. the strength and the direction of the wind is changeable
3. Experts in the field of large dynamic data bases: here the main tasks are going to be building up a large data base first filled with parameters like relief of the region including rocks, angle of the slopes, vegetable life, rivers, likes, ponds.
4. Experts in one or more of the following fields: networks, wireless networks, network protocols, gateways, interconnections.
5. Experts in image recognition. They will deal with the mathematical models describing the fire shape and the spread of the smoke along with the fire.
6. GIS experts to work out the incoming data before entering into the mathematical models
7. Computer Security experts. This is computer based system and malfunctions are possible.
Description of work to be carried out by the partner(s) sought:
Profile 1: Developing into working models the mathematical methods dealing with the shape and the spread of the smoke along the fire during the burning process
Profile 2: Developing of a large data bases for storing parameters typical for each area scanned by the satellites
Profile 3: Developing the wireless connections
Profile 4: Developing the 3D animation for the final visualization of the fire behavior
Profile 5: Developing the software calculating the mathematical models dealing with the forest fire behavior
Profile 6: Developing of GIS algorithm of working with the incoming data
Profile 7: Developing an appropriate computer security firewall protecting the incoming data from damages
Type of partner(s) sought:
Research Laboratories
Universities
Research Centers
SME interested in this type of activities described above
Civil protection oriented organizations
