PROPOSAL AT A GLANCE

Proposal name:
Generic Implantable/Wearable Body Sensor Node: GENIBODY
Subject:
This projects aims to develop an ultra-low-power generic System-in-Package (SiP) devoted to wearable and implantable body sensors. Three versions of this SiP will be developed for: (1) wearable medical/sport applications; (2) medical devices subcutaneously implanted; (3) medical devices implanted deep inside the body.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Proposal Outline:

This projects aims to develop an ultra-low-power generic System-in-Package (SiP) devoted to wearable and implantable body sensors. This project will offer key innovative features with respect to:

(1) High flexibility and modularity, easily adaptable to various sensors, antennas and communication frequencies.
(2) Wireless data transmission based on radio-frequency signals or acoustic waves.
(3) Powerless sensor nodes based on innovative wireless power transmission techniques using radio-frequency signals, magnetic coupling or acoustic waves.
(4) Local massive signal processing capabilities.

This projet will propose a brick forming the corner stone of devices continuously monitoring physiological and biological parameters of the body. Three versions of this SiP will be developed for:

(1) Wearable medical/sport applications.
(2) Medical devices subcutaneously implanted.
(3) Medical devices implanted deep inside the body.

Moreover, the two other goals of the project will be to assess the system in real environment for a selected set of applications and to contribute to standardization of Body Sensor Networks.

Keywords:
Ultra-low-power generic System-in-Package (SiP), wearable body sensors, implantable body sensors, implanted medical devices, wireless power transmission, wireless data transmission based on RF signals, magnetic coupling or acoustic waves.
