ALLEX@ndRIA – (Accessibility – Learning – Library – European - Xchange - and - RIA)
Subject:

ALLEX@ndRIA will be a collaborative environment that will offer a set combination of applications, tools and innovative services to enable preservation, conservation, study, translation and learning of Egyptian Hieroglyphs.


The project will cover the following requirements:
• Accessibility and usability.
• Content preservation.
• Collaborative environments management.
• Efficient and intelligent technologies for the content management.
• To allow the content capture, sharing and reuse.
• Knowledge repositories generated from content analysis.
Users (people and organizations) will be able to explode knowledge repositories for learning.
• The application allows to restrict access to information depending on the user profile (level of education, age, profession, language, etc.)


PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Proposal Outline:

ALLEX@ndRIA project will be a semantic digital library, a set of Web 2.0 tools and a collaboration environment.
ALLEX@ndRIA aims at using collaborative tools integrated into a portal:
• Semantic and social tools: Semantic blogs, wikis, search tools, information spaces, RSS, IM, social communities, web mining...
• Preservation tools: Repair tools for damaged inscriptions, OCR, content repositories, …

• Translation tools: Egyptian hieroglyphs dictionary, transliteration dictionary, hieroglyphs translator… 
• Learning and knowledge tools: Creation of learning objects, tutorials and tests generators, communication with the experts (face-to-face, audio and/or video tutorials, etc), knowledge repositories, etc…
• Accessibility tools for blind or partially sighted people: Text-to-speech, screen magnifiers, braille tools and braille devices integration, …
