NEBULAE - Advanced Digital Information Searcher in the multimedia Era

Actually, accessing info is a mayor problem for specialists, politicians, companies and people in general. In general, it is because we obtain a lot of more info that we need and in several format that we are not requiring of. In other cases, simply we cannot access to it. This project aims to research and develop a platform for adaptive search of content and meta-data retrieval of information, independently of the media, from the amount of heterogeneous and distributed digital multimedia content. The platform will be supported by edge technologies to obtain meta-information from both hyperlink analysis and content-based retrieval (wave, textures, shape, motion…).

The new information era is just beginning, and the digital multimedia content is so enormous... These data are rising continuously due, in part, at new multimedia containers appearing. Some examples of new multimedia containers are new digital libraries initiatives, 4G technologies or Digital Television. The fact is that new tools for retrieving information basing in content are necessary for this new era in order to obtain abstractions of multimedia content to identify and classify. One of the mayor problems is that you can retrieval the digital multimedia content from several heterogeneous sources. Easy, Fast, and Precise are the main necessary characteristics from a point of view of the user. Therefore, these tools will deal with Distributed, Adaptive and Intelligent intrinsic constraints. The mentioned tools will be integrated in a platform that with deal with the problems of retrieval meta-data by two ways: hyperlink and contextual analysis, in which the platform analyze how the content is linked in its source and what info is surrounding it; and, content-based retrieval, in which the content is analyzed deeply basing in textures, sound waves, motion, etc. in an incremental way in order to improve performance (it is actually doing a lot of resources’ consumption processes). The next researching areas have been identified: - Multimedia Content Analysis, state of art and new algorithms will be assessed and integrated - Multimedia Data-Mining based in contextual info, necessary to obtain valuable info that appear in the source of the content. - Semantically Oriented Searching Machines and Algorithms, in order to in integrate with meta-data retrieval processes and do then at time.

Contribution to proposal is required for all the involved partners. We are looking for two kinds of partners (whatever organization type is welcomed) Technological partners: - Research and development activities in the above expertise areas End users: - Providing multimedia content sources - Providing a real environment to validate and assess project's results
