PROPOSAL AT A GLANCE
Proposal name:
Subject:
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Proposal Outline:
Project goal: Develop system-level management software (Linux enhancements) for automatic management of resources in a large scale, distributed-memory multi-core architecture (tens to hundreds of cores).
Necessary activities: develop system-level software that makes all the cores perform like an Symmetrical Multi-Processor (SMP).
Main features include:
- Single-system image – transform “cluster-on-a-chip” to one computer with multiple processors.
- Dynamic work distribution - match available and requested resources.
- Transparent to applications.
- Support high degree of parallelism, e.g. threads.
Expected results: a Linux based software for automatic management of a scalable multi-core architecture.

PARTNER PROFILE SOUGHT
Required skills and Expertise:
Description of work to be carried out by the partner(s) sought:
Architecture - define architecture details: memory-access, memory sharing, interconnection network of a scalable multi-core.
Parallel application - develop massive parallel applications.
Programming environments - develop run time environment that supports massive parallel applications.
Virtualization - develop light weight VMM and an interface between VMM and management software for dynamic allocation of resources to VMs
