WorkLight - Business Performance Tracking and Monitoring at business process Workflow level

The idea of the proposed project lies on the increasing demand coming from the real world to have extended functionalities at management disposal enabling the management at any level to better keep under control the business by tracking and monitoring the business flow from the initial request up to the finished products or goods and related services delivered to the customer.

WorkLight will improve the functionalities of the most common and most advanced business performance management tools available on the market and based on balanced scorecard methodologies, with extended capabilities of keeping under control the process flow of the business across a wide variety of business domains and organizations of all sizes, in order to enable the wider uptake of the results of European research and to improve the competitiveness of European industry.

Development of an integrated web-based solution aiming to improve capability to keep the business under control by means of tracking and monitoring the performance at business process flow level, across a wide variety of business domains and organizations of all sizes, including SMEs. Starting from relevant experience in the Business Performance Management domain, involvement of a significant number of end users, and extending the scope of the functionalities of a BPM solution available today on the market.

The solution will give the possibility to rapidly model, share and reuse any process, regardless of scope, regardless of complexity and easily connect to back-end system and application that supports the process, becoming a collaborative solution which provides the company’s staff with a working environment that facilitates communication and information exchange.
Users will identify "key nodes", crucial points in every process that can be measured in a quantitative and objective way, offering executive dashboard views of performance level and reporting functionalities.

With the creation of a process repository that is, a catalogue of processes and metrics built and maintained by Research Institutes/Universities in cooperation with major management consulting companies, relevant to a wide variety of business domains and organizations of all sizes, enterprises (and mainly SME) will reduce implementation costs.
