The project is positioned in preventive medicine area, angiology and oncology, and will be interacting with Personal Health Systems and Legacy HIS.
We plan to research the possible automation of B-mode ultrasonic imaging coupled with advanced data mining algorithms to predict certain classes of vascular diseases and the downsizing to portable/mobile devices.
On top of the predictive model it will be necessary to estimate the time slot remaining available for treatment.
Finally the optimisation should be done among possible treatment plant to determine the most appropriate one, to be suggested to family doctor.
We will be researching how to switch from Legacy ultrasonic equipment actually employed in specialised Lab. in Hospitals to design a portable, mobile B-mode echo engine with an embedded ICT to be used as PDA in screening outside hopspitals. The concept of "Travelling Lab." will be developed to use the new facilities in preventive medicine in supermarkets, at home or elsewhere outside hopsitals. Target outcomes are contributing to "Personalised monitoring" and "point-of-care-diagnostics".
