Proposal Outline:
Services based GNSS are vital to the running of the society of tomorrow and they are set to grow considerably due to their great impact. However, satellites technologies are less efficient in indoor environments since satellites signal is not available. Other technologies are now available and are great candidates for indoor positioning applications.
The UGS project objective is to develop a demonstrator of an innovative hybrid positioning system based on an appropriate convergence of emerging positioning technologies.
UGS will offer an enhanced mobility service through:
• Offering an always available information access: UGS is designed to ensure a continuous service through a transparent switching between positioning technologies.
• Offering location-aware services: UGS concept is based on user location information to provide an efficient and high accuracy guidance service.
The UGS project major Research and development activities are:
• Definition of UGS architecture.
• Integrating a high accuracy indoor positioning solution.
• Developing enhanced guidance software including a human to machine interface.
The expected outcome of UGS project is a demonstrative platform enabling enhanced guidance service.
