Research and designing the methods and tools for creating real time intelligent decision support systems on the basis of cognitive graphics and non-traditional logics
Subject:
The main fundamental problem of the project is the research and designing the methods, models and tools for creating real time intelligent decision support systems (IDSS) on the base of the apparatus of non-traditional logics (temporal, abductive, inductive, fuzzy, argumentation), analogy methods, the rough set theory, intended for helping and training to operative dispatching personnel at monitoring and managing the complex technical and organizational systems and processes in the real time. The designed tools should be available to be integrated with traditional program products and data base management systems (DBMS) oriented towards specific problem domains.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Proposal Outline:

The main project’s objective for creating high-effective IDSS is the development of models, methods and tools for knowledge representation and manipulation on the basis of cognitive graphics and non-traditional logics – temporal, abductive, inductive, fuzzy, argumentation ones – in the combination with the methods of parallel processing the information. IDSS are oriented towards open and dynamic problem domains and decision search in the real time at the presence uncertainty (incompleteness, inaccuracy, inconsistence and so on). The project is devoted to help and train to decision making persons (DMP) at monitoring and managing the complex technical and organizational systems and processes in the real time. Especially such systems are needed when abnormal situations arise at operative dispatching managing the systems of the type of power stations and traffic systems.

The expected results:
- models and methods of expert knowledge representation changing with time and taking account of a IDSS specifity;
- the method of probable abductive reasoning on the base of the Bayes method;
- the method of abductive reasoning on the base of argumentation logic;
- the generalization method available to treat dynamic data and based on the rough set theory;
- the reasoning method on the base of analogies and cases;
- basic tools for cognitive graphics and representing temporal dependencies, probable abductive reasoning, abductive reasoning on the base of argumentation logic, “common sense” reasoning, the concept generalization on the base of the rough set theory.
The suggested models, methods and tools are original.
