At present, RFID identification is mostly produced using silica-based chips which are, together with an antenna and other elements (own source of energy), applied with some products.
Also in regard to this conventional (hybrid) way of individual RFID elements production, the price is generally unacceptable for applying with ordinary products.
Several research works aimed at finding a low-cost technology of individual RFID component production are under way these days.
The intention is to reduce costs of RFID components production so they can be applied for the identification of a broad range of products (common food products, special pharmaceutical products, or industrial applications).
One of the possibilities to develop and apply low-cost RFID technology for the identification of a broad range of products is printing of individual RFID elements directly onto packaging material.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Proposal Outline:
The intention is to reduce costs of RFID components production so they can be applied for the identification of a broad range of products (common food products, special pharmaceutical products, or industrial applications).
One of the possibilities to develop and apply low-cost RFID technology for the identification of a broad range of products is printing of individual RFID elements directly onto packaging material
In regard to the trend of expanding RFID – based technologies, we are interested in investigating applicability of the above low-cost technology of RFID printing directly onto converted packaging materials.
We find important:
- to purchase and test new materials
- to make feasibility and marketing studies
- to produce financial and time schedules including the plan for the introduction in the market
- to maintain communication with sub-suppliers and customers in order to improve and expand the range of applications
