Proposal name:
Interoperable Multimedia Service Platform
Subject:
An incommensurable amount of audiovisual information is becoming available in digital form, in digital archives, on the World Wide Web, in broadcast data streams and in personal and professional databases, and this amount is only growing. The problems are the multimedia service controlling, the quality of media content, and the communication techniques between communities and end users. The communities in these sector wants to transmit its content to the end users with reliable, secure and the most efficient ways. The scope of this project is to develop a platform that uses the SOA for multimedia services like searching, storing, delivering, sharing and distribution that is secure, trustworthy, personalized and interoperable.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Proposal Outline:
Many communities have their own multimedia contents. These contents are mostly received by end users via internet protocol. Within these processes there are problems with security, trustworthy, usability between the end users and the communities. The value of information often depends on how easy it can be found, retrieved, accessed, filtered and managed. New ways to produce, offer, filter, search, and manage digitized multimedia information are necessary.

The communication between the communities that provide multimedia content is needed to increase the efficiency and togetherness. There is also a need to fight with illegal contents of the media. An on-the-fly monitoring is required to understand the legality of the contents and satisfying the terms and conditions. For these approaches a Networked Platform that depends on Software Oriented Architecture is needed.

Besides the above conditions, the target of this proposal is to improve the usability, quality, performance of the multimedia services, managing the flow down of the content, analysing the trustworthy and security between the communities and end users using multimedia management techniques.

The project aims to comprise;

• SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) Model,
• Interoperability Among Services ( XML based exchange ),
• Support for Standard Multimedia Services (searching, distributing, delivering, sharing, storage),
• Flexibility for Adding New Services,
• Scalability,
• Secure Media Content,
• Trustworthy Services,
• Community Based and Personalized Applications,
• Case Based Content Semantic and Operations (e.g. search, interpretation, content-awareness, etc),
• On the Fly Streaming, Monitoring,
• On Demand Streaming,
• IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) / Digital Rights Management,
• Privacy Preservation.
