Embedding learning into business process and HRMS has been under the focus of large organizations since they were aware of long term benefits on performance, productivity etc., and thereby providing high return of investment. Furthermore, information and knowledge is breaking the limits of digital speed, thus individuals are in a deep hunger of these values, which means life long learning became among major considerations of human beings. Above issues creates a meeting point for organizations and individuals that they can both size. Besides, time and money are significant variants of business, so learning must operate over these variants efficiently with an optimal consumption. Here, Technology Enhanced Learning comes up as an effective answer to needs of organizations and individuals. However, simply TEL is not enough to exploit this paradigm; therefore it has to be equipped with proper capabilities to be applied in business process, albeit these features are necessary for any case of TEL. Here, we are going to find ways to realize these needed capabilities.
The project aims to develop a learning and compentence development environment integrated with business processes and organisational context. This environment will be based a learning and competence development model with three main elements: skills/competences (types and levels) of the learner, skills/comptences required for tasks / positions, and mapping of learning outcomes to learning modules and learning activities. Learners will be able to determine their skill/comptence levels, identify skills/comptences needed for certain tasks/positions, and identify learning modules and learning activities they need to be engaged in order to acquire certain learning outcomes. The environment will support collaborative and social learning as well as self-directed learning. The environment will also support personalised learning in a mass-individualised manner. Managers will be able to monitor skills/competences of employees and their progress over time, making it possible to identify the best candidates for a task/position. The environment will be coupled it HRM system of the organisation (thus with the payroll and the promotion management systems).
The technical work will be carried out in terms of four main work packages: development of pedagogical models, development of basic environment, development of trial specific parts, and validation by trials. As seen the project is a trial-driven project. This platform expected to answer following issues ;
• Able to motivate, engage, inspire learners,
• Able transform learning outcomes into knowledge assets,
• Able to provide mass-individualisation of learning experiences,
• Able to integrate pedagogical and organisational approaches,
• Able to exploit interactivity, collaboration, context awareness, collaborative learning and social learning
• Able to learn and configure itself according to understanding and experience of learner behavior,
• Able to identify learner requirements, monitor progress, exploit learner abilities, give purposeful and meningful advice for self learning or collaborative learning,
• Besides theoretical investigations expected to conduct such as on pedagogical issues.
