Subject:
News deserves special attention in intelligent content and semantics research as content consumed at a very high volume. Community-based and participative approach is a new paradigm for democratization of news distribution, presentation and consumption. The goal of this project it to develop a platform as a medium for studying research issues in this area.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Proposal Outline:
Community-based and participative approach is key to high volume news distribution, presentation and consumption. It offers many advantages including democratization, more effective user/supplier dialogue, creative and innovative content, wider exploitation of personalization, self-awareness, and adaptivity. At the same time it introduces certain research challenges. This project addresses these research challenges, which include
-Digital rights management in community-based and participative news distribution and consumption (and business models),
-Privacy (i.e. does the news disclose any private data), end-to-end security (i.e. does the news distributed correctly), trust (i.e. is the news real), quality (i.e. is the news correct), safety (i.e. does the news cause any danger or threat to individuals and society) issues,
-Personalization and adaptation, context-awareness issues,
-Collaborative, participative and communicative news creation,
-Scalability (i.e. mass-creation and consumption)
-Formal versus informal news creation and consumption,
-Lifecycle management of community-based participative news creation and consumption,
