PROPOSAL AT A GLANCE

Proposal name:
Multi-Media Toolbox to Support Mathematics and Numeracy for People with Specific Learning Disabilities, LearnMaths
Subject:
The main aim of this project is providing proof of concept for ICT solutions to support young people with specific mathematics learning disabilities. Basic numeracy skills are required for a range of everyday activities, such as shopping, budgeting and decorating a room. Particular difficulties in acquiring these skills are encountered by people with (specific) learning disabilities, such as dyscalculia and dyslexia, leading to marginalisation and potential disadvantage with regards to both everyday activities and education and career opportunities. This project will investigate the development of a multi-modal customisable system to support numeracy and mathematics for young people with specific learning disabilities.
