The Euopean Comission was launched three Joint Technology Initiatives
1) The call by the ARTEMIS Joint Undertaking was launched 8th May, and will close at 17h00 on 3rd September 2008. With an unprecedented investment of €2,5 billion this initiative addresses
- embedded computer systems that - while running almost unnoticed by users - improve the performance of all kinds of machines: from cars, planes and phones, to factories, washing machines and televisions.
2) The ENIAC Joint Undertaking launched its first call also on 8th May, and the closure date is the same:3rd September, 17h00. This initiative is a new public-private partnership which targets
- nanoelectronics: the technology that enables eincreasingly high levels of miniaturisation in the myriad of applications and high-tech products which are emerging today.

With the start of the ARTEMIS and ENIAC calls, Ideal-ist has opened its online partner search tool for project ideas relating to these calls.

3) Last but not least, the Ambient Assisted Living Joint Programme launched its first call on 25th April. Their call topic is
- "ICT based solutions for Prevention and Management of Chronic Conditions of Elderly People"
